Gerald Wayne Holt

February 23, 1952 – April 5, 2026 · 74 years

"He fixed things. Everything. All the time."

Biography

Gerald Wayne Holt was a mechanic, tinkerer, and self-taught engineer from Tulsa, Oklahoma. For 40 years he ran Holt's Auto & Body, a shop that became an institution in the neighborhood. Gerry fixed your car, yes, but also your lawnmower, your refrigerator, and occasionally your fence. He was the neighbor who knew how everything worked and was never too busy to show you. He is survived by his wife Dolores, three sons, seven grandchildren, and a garage full of tools that not one of them knows how to use.

My engine went out on the highway in 2001 and Gerry happened to pull over. He had it running in 45 minutes. Would not take a dollar. I have been a loyal customer for 25 years since.

Dad could fix anything. The only thing he couldn't fix was time. He ran out of it. But everything he ever touched still works.
