Biography
William Henry Carter was an engineer, a builder, and a relentlessly curious man. Born in Detroit during the height of the auto industry, Bill spent his career designing bridges across the Midwest. In retirement, he turned his garage into a workshop where he crafted furniture for family and neighbors. He is dearly missed by his children and grandchildren who still use every table and chair he made.

The dining table he made for us the year I was born is where my own kids eat breakfast every morning. Part of him is still here.
